CLI PARTNERS FOR DIALOGUE IN DAYTON
DIVERSITY DIALOGUE & DINNER
TO MARK KING HOLIDAY IN DAYTON AS PART OF PBS MYSTERY OF
LOVE PROJECT
To mark the Martin Luther King Day a "day on, not
a day off,” Civic Life International will bring together,
community leaders and student representatives from 4 cities
(Kettering, Oakwood, Dayton and Trotwood), in Montgomery
County, Ohio to an innovative community dialogue and dinner
event on the theme: Dr King, Diversity and actions of love
in our community.
The venue is Think T.V Studios 101 South
Jefferson Road Dayton Ohio. The diversity dialogue and dinner
event will feature segments from the PBS Premiere Mystery
of Love project, an inclusive, nonpartisan initiative that
invites everyone to consider how love and forgiveness can
change our lives and communities. Dayton’s participation
in the Mystery of Love Project was flagged –off last
December 12, 2006 at Think T.V studios by Mayor Rhein McLin.
“At the heart of the Dr Kings life and teachings
was “love” Not romantic love, but love in other
deep forms, like his commitment to non-violence, justice
and social change, his love for the others and love through
service in the community” noted Tokunbo Awoshakin,
the Executive Director of Civic Life International.
“By linking our sustained dialogue program on The
Mystery of love projects to The Martin Luther King Service
Day, we hope our dialogue and dinner event will give participants
an opportunity connect with people with whom they differ
and hopefully use “love” as a window for exploring
relationships in our community while also celebrating the
works and ideals of Dr Martin Luther King Said Tokunbo Awoshakin.
The Martin Luther King/Mystery of Love event will be an
evening of good food, family fun, gifts, facilitated dialogue,
lots of learning opportunities and a special cultural performance.
This event will bring together people who might not ordinarily
meet, breaks down barriers that have divided us in the past
and lead to better understanding and ongoing relationships.
Seats are limited. Interested participants must RSVP by
January 8, 2007. Call Tokunbo Awoshakin @937-259-9889
to ask about sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
